What’s New for the Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2020?

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a household name when it comes to off-road adventuring. Between the 2019 model and 2020 model, there are a few cosmetic enhancements and some equipment shuffling. The most noteworthy change, however, is that Jeep’s Active Safety Group package, featuring a suite of advanced safety features, is now available on the base Laredo trim.

Jeep Grand Cherokee History

The Jeep Grand Cherokee was launched in 1992 to be a standout in the luxury SUV class. Manufactured from 1992 to 1998, the original ZJ Grand Cherokee came in three trim levels: base, or SE; Laredo; and Limited. Over the years, more trims have been added while the vehicle has reinforced its reputation as an industry benchmark because of its balanced on- and off-road capabilities.

Why the Grand Cherokee?

Thanks to its all-weather, all-seasons and all-roads reliability, along with a best-in-class towing capability of up to 7,200 pounds, the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a sophisticated yet tough SUV that empowers you to go where you want to go—while taking nearly anything along with you.

Exterior Features

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee, which carries on the brand’s tradition of down-to-earth luxury, is characterized by aerodynamic curves and dramatic lines. It is available in multiple trim options that impact both exterior and interior features, including the Laredo E 4x2, Altitude, High Altitude, North Edition, Upland, Limited, Limited X, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, SRT, and Trackhawk. Depending on the specific style of Jeep, you can choose from a variety of exterior paint colors, such as Velvet Red, Granite, Slate Blue, Sangria, Walnut Brown, Diamond Black, Billet Silver, and Bright White.

Interior Features

The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee blends first-rate comfort and functionality and boasts a distinct look of luxury, with the availability of premium finishes and lavish wood accents. Your trim style will affect the interior colors and materials. The popular Laredo E features premium cloth seating, available either in black with black accent stitching or black and light frost beige with light frost beige accent stitching. Meanwhile, the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland allows you to revel in refinement thanks to luxurious Nappa leather-trimmed front seating that is both heated and ventilated, along with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
