Oil is one of the many important factors of a car's performance since it acts as a lubricant for the engine and keep it in working condition. Find out more about oil changes and why it's crucial to get them done at your local dealership.
Oil Change Basics
Once your car has reached at least 5,000 miles, a service icon will appear on the dashboard indicating that it needs to be serviced. Refer to your owner's manual to check on your car's regular service schedule to know when to schedule an auto service appointment. Its also good to keep any eye on the oil level every few hundred miles either in your driveway or the parking lot of your job.
When it reaches a high operating temperature, oil goes through a thermal breakdown and decreases in performance. When the oil fails to lubricate the engine due to absorbing water or dust, the engine will eventually wear out and experience corrosion. The more you follow through with reguarly changing your car's oil, the longer your engine will last.
